As I near the completion of my undergraduate degree in computer science and await an acceptance letter from Georgia Tech’s OMSCS program (hopefully), I find myself faced with a lot of free time. I’ve been working in healthcare information technology for the past 10 months. The most obvious pivot at this point is to combine my degree with my recent work experience, so I decided to research some entry level certifications. I quickly came across HIMSS and the Certified Associate in Healthcare and Information Management Systems (CAHIMS).
What better way to celebrate my degree conferral and fill my free time than to get an industry recognized certification? I am challenging myself to complete the certification within 60 days. I will be studying for the exam with this guide: Healthcare Information Technology Exam Guide for CHTS and CAHIMS Certifications by McCormick, Gugerty, and Mattison. June 23 here I come!
